Growing up

Yesterday was W. 4th birthday. I can't believe he's four years old. The time has gone so fast, and now my baby is really a little boy. He has changed so much in the last few months. There is nothing 'toddlerish' about him anymore. He's really testing his independence, for good and bad. But overall, he's still a very sweet and affectionate little boy. I hope I remember that when we hit that age when he hates us.
He's ready to read. Loves 'reading' letters on signs and books. Tries to rhyme words. I think as soon as it 'clicks' he'll be reading like crazy. I don't see a need to push him. He'll be reading when he's four, I'm not worried about that, and there is really no reason to rush it.
He routinely impresses people with his vocabulary and his manners. Sales people love to talk to him. The checkers at Trader Joes make a point of saying hi to him, because he is one of their favorite kids. The pharmacist made a point of having a conversation with him, because he said "There is nothing better than a well-spoken child."

We had Birthday's at Grandma and Grandpa's. He loves them. This time it was hard for him to leave. He said he wanted to live there. I can see why he would. He's totally spoiled while he's there. I'm glad he has such a good relationship with them.

I love my little boy!

Big Boy Bed Quilt

W. needed a new quilt for his big boy bed. His only requirement was that it had green in it. (The blue was a concession on his part!)

Its hard being sick

Poor W. He was sick all last week. It started with a cold and ended up with the start of pneumonia in one lung, and ear infection and infected eyes. He was just so pitiful by the end of the week. Thankfully the antibiotics kicked in over the weekend and he started perking up quite a bit by Sunday. His energy still isn't what it was, and neither is his appetite. All that weight he gained during he last growth spurt, he lost last week. We'll see how long it takes him to gain it back.
You don't realize how much they talk, until they quit talking, and then start again. He really was miserable. On the other hand, I think he memorized all of the dialog to Cars last week.
He's been playing with his dad racing cars, and saying "its just me and you old man".
Hopefully, there will be no relapses before his birthday weekend this weekend.
