Walking With Dinosaurs/Storm of the decade
It would figure that the day we have tickets to see Walking With Dinosaurs, the worst storm in a decade or more hit N. California. We had to drive in 40+ mph winds and rain for over an hour, to get to the Arena. We left early and got there fine, despite the crazy weather. We got a great parking spot and figured we were doing great. We were running to the arena and DH's glasses blew off his face! He saw them fly off, but couldn't really see to look for them. So there we all were, looking up and down the road and in the gutter to see if we could find them. I was holding on to B. hand for dear life. There was no way he could have stood up in the wind. We were actually blown several yards down the road at one point, and that was when I gave up. We turned around and headed back for the doors. I happened to find the glasses in the gutter as we were going back.
By that time, we were soaked through, and very cold. B. was shivering, and we were both miserable. So, there we sat for 2 hrs in wet jeans and shoes. We still enjoyed the show. It was amazing. Very well done.
The trip home was more white knuckle driving. The highway was flooded, so we sat in traffic for over an hour. We had to go to 3 McD.'s to find one that had power. It was after 2 before B. had lunch. When we got home, the power was out, as it had been since about 10 am. Amazingly, it came back on by 4. I was ready for several days without power.
I'm sure just going to the show would have been a great time, but now we have an even better story and memories of the day.
