I have been married to my husband for 6 years. I am currently a Stay at Home Mom, which I love. I have my Masters Degree in Social Work, and may consider returning to work when our son starts school full time. Right now, he is my job.

New Project

My next new "home improvement" project is to paint the grout on the kitchen counter. It currently is white tile with dark brown grout. I want to match the grout to the tile. I think it will look much better. I'm still in the process of getting the right colorant, which is a long and painful process since I have to order all of it, and have it shipped. I think they use Pony Express to ship things based on how long it is taking to get it.

Anyway, it's going to be a big project and will take quite a while to finish. But, its inexpensive and something I can do myself. I hope it looks good when I'm done. I also need to paint all the trim inside the house, but I'm just not in the mood to do that yet.

More changes

It seems like we've had daily changes since being switched to the K-1 class. I had the K schedule down pretty quickly. K-1 is a work in progress. I don't think they got all the kinks worked out before the start of the year. His start time changed, and now they are going to extend their day to include lunch. I don't really mind, except that B. is a notoriously bad lunch eater, so I hope he'll eat something while everyone else does.
They'll also be moving rooms again in another week or so. All the changes will be positive, but its got to be hard for the kids.

K-1

B. was asked to be in the K-1 class this year. I'm very proud of my smart little boy, and also a little nervous. He's still so small. Hovering around the 25%. It doesn't seem to bother him, and of course he talks like a 15 y/o, so that shouldn't hold him back! :)
He's still only go half day, only he'll start when the big kids start and leave at lunch time.
At least he won't be bored with the things the Kindergarteners are learning, which was one of my concerns. I hope he'll be fine.

Soccerfest 2008

Soccer. Good grief, what have we gotten ourselves into! Today was Soccerfest. 100's of kids taking pictures and kicking balls. It was organized chaos. Well, maybe not completely organized, but they did pretty well considering it was only the second year they've done it. W. was up at 5:40 he was so excited to go. (earlier than he got up for the first day of school!) He will enjoy soccer. I never wanted to be a soccer mom, but the parent's seem nice and it is much more organized than the T-ball team he was on. Unfortunately, it runs from mid-Aug. to the beginning of Nov. so that's a long time. Makes for late nights on Thursdays, and early mornings on Fridays.

First Day of Kindergarten

My Big Boy

I've ignored this blog, but I'm going to see if I can get going on it again. Today is a good day to start.
First Day of Kindergarten. We both did fine. No tears. W. was a little nervous, but he did fine once he got going.
I was more nervous picking him up than dropping him off. I guess I was afraid he wouldn't have a good time. But he did, of course. They did at least some of the assessments today. He said that the teacher wasn't able to "stump him" with any of her questions, so I think he did fine. We'll know next week which class he ends up in.

I think he is going to love school!
